St. Mary Parish Sheriff Smith Warning People About Corona Virus Scams

***BEWARE OF CORONAVIRUS SCAMMERS***
Sheriff Blaise Smith is advising the public to be aware of scammers who are trying to take advantage of people during this coronavirus pandemic.
These scammers are opportunistic criminals who view the situations that are brought about by the pandemic to attempt to trick their victims into entering their scams in order to get money from them.
Sheriff Smith encourages the public to be skeptical of any contact by text, email, mail, or phone call in which someone is seeking payment by gift card, offering services or products, or sending checks.
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Be careful and guard your finances!
