Slidell Woman Charged with Felony Financial Crimes
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Opal Wiley, 59, of 313 Tumblebrook Street, Slidell, LA, on felony financial crimes dating back to 2017.
On December 22, 2017, the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, initiated an investigation into an identity theft involving a victim from Napoleonville, LA.
Through the investigation, detectives determined that suspects(s) used the identity of the victim to obtain monetary instruments which resulted in the fraudulent purchase of numerous items valued in excess of $1000.
During the initial investigation, detectives identified the first suspect as Jordashe Daggs, 39, of 703 Cobb Xing, Smyrna, Georgia. At that time, detectives traveled to Georgia and were able to establish probable cause to obtain warrants against Daggs and eventually incarcerating him in Assumption Parish on charges of identity theft, monetary instrument abuse and bank fraud.
While continuing the investigation, detectives identified a second suspect known then as Woodrow Wiley. At that time,warrants were obtained for Wiley.
On Saturday, Wiley was arrested under his proper name of Opal Wiley at this home in Slidell. He was transported and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Monetary Instrument Abuse
Opal Wiley remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
