Sixth COVID-19 Related Death Reported at Franklin Nursing Home

St. Mary Parish Coroner Dr. Eric Melancon has confirmed a sixth COVID-19 related death at Legacy Healthcare of Franklin. Melancon said on Sunday that there have been 31 total positive residents. Two of those are currently being treated in a hospital. 23 remain at the nursing home while 10 residents are pending results.

Melancon said he is happy to say there are still no cases at Legacy of Morgan City, Patterson Healthcare Center or Maison Jardin. He acknowledged their efforts to prevent the coronavirus in their facilities.

As of Sunday, there have been 11 deaths and 149 cases of Coronavirus reported in St. Mary Parish.
