Sheriff's Office Helps Cook Lunch For Healthcare Workers

Sheriff Blaise Smith and the deputies of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office cooked lunch for healthcare workers, partnering with Skip Hebert and his friends at the Knights of Columbus/Baldwin & Charenton No. 6873.
Skip Hebert started feeding the healthcare workers around Franklin when the COVID-19 pandemic started and has gotten financial support from individuals and agencies in St. Mary Parish to continue every Wednesday.
Today, Sheriff Smith and his deputies took over the cooking duties and provided lunch for 342 healthcare workers and prepared enough for first responder agencies as well.
Sheriff Smith said that serving others is a privilege and is an important part of community.
“We are glad to have the opportunity to be a part of this effort. We are taking care of people who take care of all of us.”
