Sheriff Blaise Smith announces the 2020 Sheriff’s Scholarship Recipient for St. Mary Parish

Normally, the Sheriff presents this scholarship to the recipient at the school’s Senior Awards Day. Well, this year the COVID-19 thwarted usual plans.

So, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office took a different approach this year and invited their recipient to the Sheriff’s Office in Franklin to be awarded the scholarship. The department said, “Our high school seniors really had a rough time with the spring semester, spring sports, and the usual celebrations for seniors. The Class of 2020 showed a lot of resilience through their disappointments and we are very proud of the Class of 2020.”

Therefore, they wanted to make a video to announce the scholarship winner in hopes that it would make the presentation more special.
