Search Warrant Executed In Patterson Nets Three Arrest by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff Blaise Smith announces the confiscation of stolen firearms, drugs, and drug paraphernalia on Thursday, March 5 as detectives from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at a residence at 1121b Francis Street in Patterson.
.
The search warrant resulted in the arrest of three suspects:
Caleb Daigle, 19, of Berwick
Kaleb Lane William Smith, 19, of Patterson
Nathaniel Lawerence Wicks, 22, of Houma.
.
During the investigation, firearms were located that were reported stolen, as well as synthetic cannabinoids.
.
Synthetic cannabinoids are a class of molecules that bind to the same receptors in the brain to which cannabinoids in cannabis plants THC and CBD attach.
.
However, while similar to marijuana in that sense, synthetic cannabinoids sharply contrast in comparison to marijuana in their toxicity. Deaths from synthetic cannabinoids tripled between 2014 and 2015, according to the CDC.
.
These drugs are much more potent and dangerous.
