Scam Alert – Utility Company Requesting Money

NAPOLEONVILLE, La. – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports that the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office has received complaints from residents indicating calls which are showing up on caller ID’s as coming from utility companies requesting money for various reasons.
The numbers are manipulated through a process known as “spoofing”, and are not originating from any utility company.
If such a call is received, residents are urged to not to send money as this is a SCAM.
Please contact your utility company if you receive a similar call to determine if the notification is legitimate.
