Patterson Woman Charged With Aggravated Arson

A Patterson woman has been arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Arson. According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, 34 year old Lecorya Nicholas is accused of setting fire to a vehicle that was located just feet from a bedroom where two people were sleeping.
Early on September the 29, the Patterson Firefighters requested assistance from the SFM to determine the origin and cause of a vehicle fire located in the 900 block of Washington St. in Patterson.
After further investigation, investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set and that the vehicle was co-owned by Nicholas and her ex-boyfriend, who had been sleeping less than ten feet from where the vehicle was set on fire. According to witness statements, it was learned that there had been several incidents that were reported to the Patterson Police Department in the past few months involving the couple.
After Nicholas was identified as the suspect in the case, a warrant was obtained for her arrest.
She was located by Addis Police, with evidence of burn injuries, and then transferred to the St. Mary Parish Jail for booking in connection with the case.
