Ochsner St. Mary Hospital in Morgan City has released a statement regarding its response to the recent surge of COVID-19, including why a tent has been set up outside of the Emergency Department.
“Ochsner St. Mary is experiencing increased demand and volume due to the current surge of COVID-19. To accommodate additional patients the hospital set up an air-conditioned tent outside its Emergency Department (ED) to serve as a triage area to test patients who have been exposed to COVID, but are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.
As we begin the week, Ochsner St. Mary is nearing capacity in all units, with 75% of patients being treated for COVID-19. With the influx of patients presenting to the ED, wait times are considerably longer than usual and hospital staff is working diligently to treat patients. We urge all patients and community members to use the resources below if they are not in need of emergency medical attention.
- If you have a minor illness or no symptoms of COVID-19, please consider seeing your primary care provider, or find a COVID-19 testing location near you by visiting the LDH website.
