No Injuries after Shots Fired Near Labadieville Parade

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed with KQKI News that one suspect is in custody after allegedly firing a gun near the Krewe of Xanadu parade Monday night in Labadieville. No injuries were reported.
A Sheriff’s Office spokesman says a disturbance occurred with a large gathering of subjects in the Kingston subdivision area near the parade route. During the disturbance, 19 year old Resmond Smith Jr., is accused of firing several shots with a large caliber handgun.
Because of a large presence of law enforcement in the area, deputies were able to arrive on scene shortly after the shots were fired and break up the disturbance.
Smith was charged with the following offenses:
Illegal Use of a Weapon
Aggravated Assault in the Presence of a Firearm
He is currently incarcerated with no bond set.
