New York Law Maker Who Warned Against Drunk Driver Charged With DWI

Brian Kolb, the top Republican in the New York State Assembly, was charged with driving while intoxicated on New Year's Eve, just one week after he wrote a newspaper column warning people about driving drunk during the holidays. Kolb, who represents an upstate district, was driving in his state-issued care when he ran into a ditch in front of his home. He was taken to jail after failing field sobriety tests, and a breath test later found his blood-alcohol content over the legal limit. Kolb said in a statement, "This was a terrible lapse in judgment, one I have urged others not to make, and I take full responsibility for it. I made the wrong decision, and it is one I deeply regret."
