Morgan City Court to Open Monday

In response to Governor John Bel Edwards lifting the Stay At Home Order, City Court of Morgan City will be open to the public on Monday, June, 1, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.
The public will be allowed to pay traffic tickets, fines and costs in person. These can also be paid on through the online service (www.morgancitytix.com) or mailed by money order to City Court, P.O. Box 1577, Morgan City, LA 70381. The Clerk of Court’s Office will also be open to pay and handle outstanding bench warrants, to obtain extensions and to call to get your court date.
Only one person at a time in the front lobby of the Clerk’s Office. To make arrangements to pay probation fees or see your probation officer, contact your probation officer, Mr. Mark Griffin, Sr. at (985) 384-2718 or (985) 518-6787.
To file civil or small claims suits/documents, pick up a form or discuss any matters with the Civil Clerk, please contact the Civil Clerk, Cindy Michel to set up an appointment. The Governor has ordered no evictions can be filed earlier than June 8, 2020.
The first court date is Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. All persons entering the courtroom will be required to wear a mask and submit to an infrared thermometer check. While in the courtroom, strict adherence to the court’s social distancing guidelines will be required. Only the individual with the court business will be allowed inside the courtroom, unless that individual is being accompanied by a caregiver or an interpreter. No exceptions. Please abide by social distancing guidelines.
