Message from Sheriff Blaise Smith

Sheriff Blaise Smith advises the public on how we will proceed as we operate coming out of #Laura.
.
1- PHONES- We are now going back to our normal phone lines in communications. If you have an emergency, as always, dial 911. To reach the SMPSO dispatch, call our 337-828-1960 line as usual.
.
2- CURFEW- The west side of our parish has flooding issues, high water, and other issues from #Laura. Therefore, there has been a curfew established from the Calumet Cut to the parish line around Jeanerette. The curfew will be from 10 pm tonight until 6 am in the morning.
.
3- SIGHTSEEING- With the water levels in places being high on the west side, Sheriff Smith reminds the public to continue to avoid driving for “Sightseeing.”
.
4- ROAD CLOSURES- Highway 319 all the way to Cypremort Point is closed at this time as well as Highway 317 around Mile Marker 3. We will continue to evaluate and monitor the water levels and we will open these roadways when it is safe to do so.
