KQKI Expands Its Sports Staff

KQKI 95.3 FM has added a veteran local newspaper reporter as a member of its sports team this fall to cover football games.

Geoff Stoute, who recently left The Daily Review in Morgan City after a 13-year career to further his education, will join KQKI as a part-time Digital Sports Reporter.

In this role, Stoute will write stories to accompany live broadcasts by the KQKI crew on Friday nights. He also will take photographs, capture video and conduct postgame interviews.

“I am so thankful for the staff at KQKI for their support of my vision of what we can do to bolster high school sports coverage for St. Mary Parish athletics,” Stoute said. “I cannot wait to see the finished product.”

At The Daily Review, Stoute interned nearly two years – first in the sports department and later in the news department.

Upon graduation from college, Stoute was hired full time at the newspaper as a General Assignment Reporter in May 2008. In February 2012, he moved to the paper’s Sports Department where he directed high school coverage until March 2020. For the past year, he worked a dual role covering news and sports.

Stoute is a 2008 graduate of Nicholls State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with concentrations in Print Journalism and Public Relations.

He currently is pursuing a technical diploma in Digital Media at South Louisiana Community College in Lafayette.
