Citing a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases, Governor John Bel Edwards announced Saturday that everyone ages 8 and older will now be required to wear a face mask, but suggests that children ages 2 – 7 should also wear a mask.
The new executive order takes effect on Monday, July 13 at 12:01 am.
Edwards is also ordering that bars, even those that serve food on premises, will be closed for on-site alcohol consumption. The only exception is curbside service.
All social gatherings, with the exception of essential businesses and places of worship, will be limited to 50 people or less.
This is a developing story and we will update it as more information becomes available.
