Former Houma Narcotics Commander Arrested On Several Charges

According to authorities, a former Houma Police Department narcotics commander has been arrested on several charges. Jeff Lirette was arrested earlier today (Monday 02-03-2020)) on 45 counts of injuring public records, 17 counts of forgery, maleficence and theft between $5,000 and $25,000.
Lirette was arrested by State Police foloowing an investigation, authorities said. He was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail and later posted a $20,000 bond.
Lirette retired from the Houma Police Department in late 2019 after 23 years of being on the force, according to Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman.
Chief Coleman issued a statement saying,“Any arrest of a law enforcement officer comes as a shock.” “Out of respect to the investigation I’m going to leave all statements to the State Police.”
No other details have been released.
