Darlene Robicheaux Businelle

May 11, 1956 – March 7, 2020
Darlene Robicheaux Businelle passed away at the age of 63 with her husband by her side during the early morning hours of Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans.
Darlene was born in Franklin on May 11, 1956 and was a lifelong resident of Centerville. She had a vibrant personality and was truly a free spirited woman who exuded positivity in all she did. Her big smile and bright eyes could light up the darkest of places and lift the spirits of even the most downcast person. She had a deep love for animals, especially for her cats, Tabby, Sophie, and Marley. She was also blessed with a passion for the arts. She loved expressing her creativity through her folk art paintings and enjoyed arts and crafts of all kinds as well as attending many craft festivals. She also loved cheering on her beloved New Orleans Saints. But above all her passions in life her true love was definitely her family. She will be missed beyond measure but will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her beautiful memory include her husband, Wayne J. Businelle Sr.; her mother, Dolores Dugas Robicheaux; her sisters, Paulene Smith and her husband Michael, Jolene Curtis and her husband Freddy, and Angelene Hanagriff and her husband David; her step-children, Wayne J. Businelle Jr., Joey G. Businelle, and Tanya B. Carter and her companion Jordan; seven grandchildren, Chase and his wife Emma, Drake and his fiancé Celeste, Karli, Avery, Madisyn, Skye, and Josie; two great grandchildren Kamari and Ainsley; as well as one niece, four nephews, and one great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Paul “Mike” Robicheaux; an infant brother, Jed Robicheaux; an infant sister, Charlene Mary Robicheaux; maternal grandparents, Joseph Elmo Dugas and Clara Pontiff Dugas; and paternal grandmother, Rosa Mae Champagne.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Ibert’s Mortuary during a 1:00 p.m. Life Celebration, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum in Centerville. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A self-proclaimed “hippie” one of Darlene’s final wishes is for attendees to wear tie-dye or bright colored clothing.
Serving as pallbearers will be her step-son Joey Businelle, grandsons Chase and Drake Businelle, nephews Blake Curtis and Pierce Hanagriff, and brother-in-law Michael Smith.
