Burglary Suspects Apprehended by New Iberia Police

On 04/16/2020 at approximately 12:25 am officers with the New Iberia Police Patrol Division observed a suspicious subject enter a business in the 600 block of S. Landry Rd. Officers also observed a vehicle leave the area of the business. A traffic stopped on this vehicle was conducted at which time the driver identified himself as 57 year old Joey Farmer. Upon further investigation it was learned that the vehicle contained items which had be stolen from the business. Also located on the suspect was a small amount suspected Crystal methamphetamine.
The subject who was observed entering the business, was located, and arrested. This subject was later identified as 38 year old Robert Tucker.
Both subjects were taken to the Iberia Parish Jail and booked:
Joey Farmer was booked with Possession of schedule II narcotics, Burglary of a business, No driver license, possession of stolen things.
Robert Tucker was booked with an open warrant for failure to appear, unauthorized entry of a business and possession of stolen things.
At approximately 12:35 pm while conducting a follow-up investigation the New Iberia Police Department with the assistance of the Iberia Parish Sheriff Office conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 4200 block of Romero Rd. Officers were able to locate and recover more stolen items from the residence.
