Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Dean Beranek, 35 years old, of Burchfield Ln. Berwick, was arrested on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 3:18AM, on the following charges:
2 Counts of Domestic Abuse Battery (Child Endangerment Law)
16th JDC Warrant Criminal Neglect of Family
On July 24, 2021, at 2:31AM, officers were dispatched to a residence on Burchfield Ln. in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress. Officers arrived on scene and began interviewing the witnesses and victims involved in this matter. Through investigation, officers learned that Beranek committed a battery upon an adult female and a juvenile female at the residence. Officers also found that Beranek held an active warrant through the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for Criminal Neglect of Family. In conclusion, Beranek was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail where he remains with no bond set.
Dex M. Clements, 34 years old, of River Rd. Berwick, was arrested on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 9:58PM, on the following charge:
Violation of Protective Orders
On July 25, 2021, at 9:26PM, officers were dispatched to a residence on River Rd. in reference to a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and learned that Clements was involved in a verbal argument with a female at the residence. A computer check revealed that Clements had an active protective order against him that prohibited him from being around the female as well as around the residence. In conclusion, Clements was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail where remains with a $2,500.00 bond.
