Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrest:
Steven Gray W/M 37 yoa. of Berwick was arrested on Friday May 14, 2021 at 4:17 on the following charges:
- DUTY OF OFFENDERS TO NOTIFY LAW ENFORCEMENT OF CHANGE OF ADDRESS (Warrant 16th JDC)
- FAILURE TO REGISTER OR NOTIFY AS SEX OFFENDER (Warrant 16th JDC)
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA Warrant 16th JDC)
- FLIGHT FROM AN OFFICER (Warrant 16th JDC)
- RESISTING AN OFFICER (Warrant 16th JDC)
On Friday May 14, 2021 at approx. 4:00 PM an officer with Berwick Police was on regular patrol in the area of Pacific St. when he observed who was believed to be Gray sitting on a porch at a residence. With prior knowledge of multiple active warrants for Gray’s arrest, the officer then contacted a second officer to assist. Officers went to the location and made contact with someone at the residence who allowed officers to enter the residence. Upon entering, officers immediately observed Gray in the living room area. Gray was taken into custody without incident and placed under arrest. He was later transported to Berwick Jail where he was booked on the warrants and transported to St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center where he is currently being held.
Devin Leblanc W/M 19 yoa. of Berwick was arrested on Friday Ma4 14, 2021 at 6:23 PM for the following charges:
- DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY BY STRANGULATION (Berwick Warrant)
- DISTURBING THE PEACE (Berwick Warrant)
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA (Berwick Warrant)
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA (Berwick Warrant)
- 3 FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR TRAIL (16th JDC)
On Friday May 14, 2021 at approx. 6:20 PM an officer with Berwick Police Dept. was called to Berwick South Road where St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office had observed Devin Leblanc who had active warrants through Berwick Police. Officers arrived on scene and took Leblanc into custody without incident. The warrants stem from the day before on May 13, 2021 in which a complaint was received from an off duty deputy who stated that a male subject was beating up his girlfriend at a near by residence. Officers arrived on scene and met with the deputy and the victim. It was learned that the male was observed on top of a female and appeared to be choking her. During the course of the investigation, Leblanc was identified as the suspect involved. While on scene, Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia was located in a bag belonging to Leblanc. Leblanc fled the scene before officers arrived and he could not be located. Warrants were issued for his arrest for the listed charges.
13 year old juvenile male of Berwick was arrested on May 16th, 2021 at 2:01 PM for the following charges:
- DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY BY STRANGULATION
- DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY
On Sunday May 16, 2021 at approx. 1:35 PM Berwick Officers were dispatched to a residence on Fairview Dr. in reference to a juvenile causing a disturbance at the residence. Upon arrival, officers learned that the juvenile in question had committed a battery and also tried choking a family member. The juvenile fled the area before officers could arrive, however officers quickly located the juvenile and he was placed under arrest without incident. The juvenile was booked on the charges and was released pending juvenile court proceedings.
Robert Moss W/M 57 yoa. of Franklin was arrested on Sunday May 16, 2021 at 6:33 PM for the following charges:
- IMPROPER LANE USAGE
- DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION
On Sunday May 16, 2021 at approx. 5:57 PM an officer with Berwick Police was on regular patrol in the area of La Hwy 182 at Hwy 90 when a vehicle was observed to cross the fog line. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Moss. A drivers license check revealed that Moss was driving with a suspended license. Moss was placed under arrest and later transported to Berwick Jail and booked on the charges. He was later released after posting a $302.00 cash bond.
