Berwick Arrest Report 2-26-2020
Berwick Police Cheif David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Miranda Topham, W/F 38yoa, of Saturn Rd. Bayou Vista was arrested on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 7:13PM on the following charges:
- Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated First Offense
- Improper Lane Usage
- Two Headlamps Required
- Driving Under Suspension
On Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 7:00PM, Berwick officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on LA Hwy 182 near Tournament Blvd. for swerving in and out of the lane of travel. The vehicle was also observed to have a burnt headlamp. The driver was identified as Topham and her license was found to be suspended. Officers suspected impairment on the part of Topham and uncovered evidence indicating that she was impaired on narcotics. She performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was placed under arrest. She was transported to the Berwick Police Department where she provided a proper sample of .000g%BAC. She consented to a urine sample and a sample was collected. The results of the sample are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Topham was booked into the Berwick Jail on a $4,000.00 bond.
Tyler Sylvester, B/M, 20yoa, of Versen St. Berwick was arrested on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 12:03AM on the following charges:
- Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
On Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 12:03AM, Berwick officers responded to a residence on Versen St. for a disturbance. Upon arrival, Sylvester was identified as the person causing the disturbance and the complainant wished to have Sylvester removed from the residence. While Sylvester was putting items into his vehicle, officers detected an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Sylvester was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail. He was released after posting a $2,500.00 bond.
Brandon Lahoste, W/M, 23yoa, of Mike Dr. Patterson was arrested on February 23, 2020, at 10:37PM on the following charge:
- Berwick PD Warrant: Criminal Mischief
On Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 10:33PM, Berwick officers conducted a traffic stop on a truck on Trevino St. for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Lahoste. A warrants check revealed that Lahoste held a warrant through the Berwick Police Department for Criminal Mischief. The warrant stems from an investigation that took place on April 2, 2019, in which Lahoste tampered with another person’s property and a warrant for his arrest was prepared. Lahoste was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail. He was released after posting a $301.00 bond.
Trennon Ja’Brian Davis B/M 21 yoa. of Shlesterway St. New Iberia was arrested on Wednesday February 26, 2020 at 12:48 am on the following charges:
- SPEEDING 75 / 55
- DRIVER MUST BE LICENSED
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENBT TO DISTRIBUTE
- TRANSACTION INVOLVING DRUG PROCEEDS
- ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A STOLEN FIREARM
- ILLEGAL CARYING OF WEAPONS IN THE PRESENCE OF A CDS
On Wednesday February 26, 2020 at approx.12:48 am Berwick Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after it was clocked traveling at 75 mph in a 55 mph posted speed zone on U.S. Hwy 90 West bound. The driver was identified as Davis. It was learned that Davis did not have a driver’s license and that a strong odor of Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Davis and a passenger were removed from the vehicle and officers conducted a search which revealed Marijuana and a handgun which was reported stolen in New Iberia. Davis was placed under arrest and transported to Berwick Jail where he remains with no bond set at this time.
